Additional Information

The raw shellac may contain insect parts prior to the filtration process. There is debate as to if the ingredient is vegetarian and for this reason it is avoided by some groups. The glaze is used on time-released or delayed action pills due to its insolubility in the stomach. It is also used as a wax (lac-resin) on fresh fruit, to hide odors in pills, and to make pills easier to swallow.
